In order to see how many people are accessing your site, and from which referrer URL, add Sitemeter to your site. You just need to create an account on sitemeter (free) and then add the appropriate code to your template.

If you are creating a site that is regionally-specific, you may want to include the region's weather. If US-based, go to weather.com and complete their web-based form to grab some code to include in your blog template.
Monday's Guest Speaker is Joy Lynam who is the Associate Director of the University of Delaware's MIS department. She is responsible for the maintenance and development of the UDEL website. She will be talking about website development and maintenance issues.
