In order to see how many people are accessing your site, and from which referrer URL, add Sitemeter to your site. You just need to create an account on sitemeter (free) and then add the appropriate code to your template.

If you are creating a site that is regionally-specific, you may want to include the region's weather. If US-based, go to weather.com and complete their web-based form to grab some code to include in your blog template.
Japanese Kaizan. Nice addition of links, not only in the first entry, but also in the template on the left hand column to relevant resources.
UD Relay For Life. This blog will actually be used by the UD Relay for Life 'team'. It already advertises a meeting to be held next tuesday.
